Haunted Hotels in America

Up / Real Haunted Houses / Haunted Hotels in America / Room Haunted

One of the most famous haunted hotels in America is said to be the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia. It is said that the Architect of the famous building still roams the halls at night.

The highest incidence of paranormal encounters in Victoria take place in Helmcken Alley. You can take a Ghostly Walk Tour in downtown Victoria when you visit and have the experience guided by our local expert John Adams..

The Gingerbread Cottage Bed and Breakfast has a history of many friendly hauntings.

  •  The Cottage was once owned by a reclusive sea captain who still, many years after his demise, guards his stash of cash hidden somewhere in the floorboards of the house.

When the Gingerbread Cottage Bed and Breakfast moved into the old 1905 Victorian "Shotgun" duplex, Vanessa found many holes in the hardwood floors where other people thought the money had been hidden.

  •  Many psychics have stayed at the Bed and Breakfast and noted entities throughout the house, especially in the "Gustav Klimt" room.
  •  One particularly psychic guest - a French Canadian who channeled an ancient English King named Penda said the house is filled with warm spirits. We think they like the Austrian hospitality and the scent of authentic Austrian Apfel Strudel wafting through the air daily.

Stay with us at the Gingerbread Cottage Bed and Breakfast for a heartwarming 'good-spirit filled' holiday and take the Ghostly Tour of the many other haunted places in Victoria.

Vanessa von Schellwitz

Coming to Canada from Salzburg Austria, Gingerbread has been a big part of my life since early childhood.

Gingerbread has a long history, since medieval times it has been used because of its ability to stay fresh and wholesome for long periods of time, thus making it possible to take on early voyages and pilgrimages.

Today, I own and operate the Gingerbread Cottage, Bed and Breakfast in Victoria British Columbia Canada and work with my favorite Austrian foods- Book your stay today!

We hope to hear from you!
