Gourmet Breakfast Menu at the Gingerbread Cottage

• This years favorite omelette is far and away our new 'Garden Omelette' featuring

  • Fresh herbs from our own herb garden

  • Fresh 'Bahsil or Baysil'

  • Vine ripened 'Tomatoes or Tomaato's'

  • Goat feta cheese.

  • No matter how you say it - this dish tastes yummy and is quite health conscious! 

• Other main course breakfast choices usually include "Lox or Crab Omelettes"

  • the tastiest cold smoked, wild caught sockeye or spring salmon from the Queen Charlotte islands or tasty local Dungness crab.

  • Smothered in Cream Cheese

  • Topped with Béarnaise sauce and fried capers

  •  When she has it is stock Vanessa usually adds some yummy asparagus

  •  I can see you drooling from here!  

• Another - more traditional fave - is the Ham Cheddar and Homemade Salsa Omlette.

  • Dean laughingly calls this the "Denny's Special"... but it is kicked up a huge notch by Vanessa's delicious homemade Salsa and our eggs that come from only the happiest of chickens clucking around the farmyard.. 

• There is usually a sweet toothed option as well,

  •  like Viennese crepes filled with cream cheese and topped with orange sauce, hot berry compote and real whipped cream,

  • or Belgian Waffles topped with your choice of many tasty toppings.

  • Once in a while she also gets a penchant for Austrian "Sacher Hotel Style" Apricot, Plum or Strawberry Dumplings ( Erdbeerenknoedel) - topped with fried cookie crumbs and Whipped cream...  

Of course all our omelettes and baking only use the freshest eggs from the happiest free range chickens we can find! You can almost hear the hens clucking peacefully while you are eating.   

Vanessa's Veni Vidi Coxi Kitchen

Vanessa is a gourmet chef who came to British Columbia from her home in the culture filled city of Salzburg, Austria. Many of her scrumptious specialties rival those uniquely tasty dishes served for decades and enjoyed by Royals and High Society from all over the world in the Sacher Hotel in Vienna. 

Vanessa prepares fresh Blackberry scones for this mornings breakfast, she hand picked the berries herself so that only the ripest and juiciest ones are used..

Vanessa's 'Viennese Apfel Strudel' is world famous ( People travel to Victoria from all over the world to sample her strudel ) and her 'Potato Latkes' are an addiction of their own! In fact her Latkes are famous world wide and an attraction as far away as South America and Israel.

The Breakfast Tables at the Gingerbread Cottage are always set with fine silver, gorgeous old linens and traditional Austrian hand painted dinnerware from the famous Gmunden Keramic hand painted porcelain dishes from Austria...But the best part of the table setting is the smile on your face while enjoying the great food, hospitality and entertainment of the Gingerbread Cottage's breakfast.  

A usual way to begin the breakfast adventure at the Gingerbread Cottage starts with a bowl of Vanessa's own delicious Healthy Homemade Granola. Topped with dried fruits milk and maybe some yogurt - the adventure begins....

The Cottage's Gourmet Breakfast Menu also includes yummy seasonal BC berries and other fresh fruits in attractive displays. 

Yummy Vegan Breakfasts are also available for an extra $10.00 per person charge. 

Vanessa is a bread baking connoisseur and loves to create many different styles of home baked bread and buns, every morning in high season. As if that was not enough, lying in ambush on the table is a variety of her own fine Victorian Jams and Jellies awaiting your opinion...

Is the Rose Petal Jelly really better than the Lavender Jelly? Only you can be the judge... but it is on the exam when you leave so make sure and study!
