Krista's GraduationKrista also graduated from the University of Regina in May with a Bachelors of Arts in English. She also had major in Visual Arts. She is currently putting one of her many skills to work as an English teacher in Anyang, South Korea. (suburb of Seoul) We are very proud of her accomplishments. Vanessa's Interesting Projects
Dean's Interesting ProjectsDean was involved in assisting to refit a 52 foot cement sailing vessel bound for Denmark. The project occurred in Fisherman's wharf in downtown Victoria.

Roland, Dean and Vanessa on a sea trial aboard the Alice D, a friends sailing vessel headed for Copenhagen Dean also is updating a website containing details of the voyage of the Alice D back to Copenhagen. Dean is also compiling a DVD about West Coast Whale Watching. with a local whale watching company. Our FuntimeOur antique 1955 30' Chris Craft cruiser, the Renaissance, is nearing completion in it's restoration. Dean rebuilt the 2 inboard engines this past year and has been working on the mechanical aspects of refurbishing this classic wooden boat, while Vanessa re-upholstered, made new custom drapes and refinished the gorgeous mahogany interior of the two cabins. We were also able to obtain information about the previous owners for the log book.
The Renaissance is happy to have gotten a new life and is excited to take us and our friends on harbour tours and out to set our crab pots.
Yum Yum! This Year At the CottageWe enjoyed the company of many fine people from Australia to Zimbabwe. We had a couple from England from the BBC who came after being recommended by others from the BBC. Dean thought we were being scouted for a new series of "Fawlty Towers" haha.. we had many other guests from as far away as Israel and Australia Although the refurbishing of the 100 year old cottage is an ongoing item, we did finish the third floor quarters with two sundecks and yacht style berth and head. It is great to fall asleep to the sound of the Pacific Ocean's waves, with all this healthy air we have a wonderful life. We did some more work on the roof garden, and completed our collection of antique Persian rugs. Vanessa also completed a set of German fine China that her Mother had started many years ago.. thanks to Ebay! :) Europe TripEvery year we go to Europe to visit Vanessa's Mother and family. A retired Physical education teacher, Vanessa's mother is doing very well for 87 and has a keen interest in her balcony garden and as well as world politics.

Dean with two Gorgeous Blondes in Tegernsee, Bavaria
A nice dinner with family in Tegernsee This year we took Dean's daughter Krista, a graduating Arts and English student, to Europe with us. We took in the sights and sounds of Salzburg
We also visited the Vienna Opera and saw a wonderful version of Giselle, a Gustav Klimt exhibition and many art galleries in Vienna.
Then we moved on to Venice, Italy where we got lost walking around (always bring a compass or GPS if you go to Venice!) We even went to Murano Island for a tour of the famous Glass blowing factory - It was sort of like a
Krista and Vanessa at San Marco Piazza, Venice Italy We spent a week in Umbria ( a province of Italy ) at a 300 year old farmhouse.
Krista in front of the farmhouse in Umbria From there we visited Assisi and saw St Frances's handiworks and monumental churches. Most of Assisi had been damaged by an earthquake in the early nineties but had since been rebuilt.
